It’s called chronic for a reason. 🫡 In all seriousness, I know that when people say it, they say it either because they genuinely hope for that (which I do too), or they just don’t know what to say, which is completely valid as well. But when you’re living with chronic pain or chronic illness, and you’ve bounced from doctor to doctor never finding any answers— never given any hope of a cure or even treatment— it’s difficult to not hear those words and want to rip your own hair out. But instead, I settle and leave it with a “thanks, me too.” Because at least the other person can rest with the idea maybe someday this will go away for me. I also want to state that I am a firm believer in Christ and His power. He has every ability to heal me in an instant. When I say there’s no cure, there is no cure that can be given by a doctor or psychiatrist. That doesn’t mean there isn’t still hope in Christ. If it is His will for me to be healed from these specific afflictions while I still walk and breathe on this earth, His will be done in His timing. But even if He chooses not to, and instead only lightens the burden by filling me with His peace that surpasses all understanding, which I must choose every day, He is good.
